LET'S START AT THE BEGINNING

What if we told you that the most important thing about booking a wedding photographer isn’t actually about the photographs themselves? 

Would you think we’re crazy?!

Now we’re not saying that the photographs don’t matter. Of course they do, but I’ll explain why, in our experience, we feel that our connection with our clients has always been just as important as the photographs.

  • When we click with our clients, it's like hanging out with friends. We all feel comfortable and relaxed. So, if we click with you, you won't feel awkward being photographed by us. It'll actually be a lot of fun.
  • If we click with you, we'll also click with your guests. This means your guests will look more comfortable and relaxed in your photographs. This means the photographs themselves will feel more natural and real.
  • It sounds so simple, but the connection between us and our clients has more of an impact on the finished photographs than you can ever imagine. It's literally everything and it's probably what sets us apart from everyone else.

WHERE TO START

The best thing, in our opinion, is to feel out whether we’re a good fit for you, your guests and your day. Not just as to whether we’ll click or not, but also in the way that we photograph weddings.

STEP ONE:
FIND SOMEONE YOU LIKE

LET'S SEE IF WE click

If you’d have told us when we started this game that our connection with our couples would be our greatest strength, we’d have laughed too. The best advice someone gave us many years ago was “Be Yourselves” and for better or worse, that’s what we’ve done.

So, will we get on? Let’s see.

"Hey, I'm Shazia"

I’m definitely the quieter one. Not quite necessarily, but given that Chris doesn’t stop talking, I’m just quieter, which makes me the quieter one.

We’re both very laid back, but brides often appreciate how calm I am, especially in a crisis. While Chris is more of a ‘grab the bull by the horns’ approach, I’m more of a “relax, hang on, I’ve got something for that.”

MY CLICKY LIST

To be honest, I tend to click with our couples over the most random things.

  • Cats. We've got four, but it doesn't have to be our cat. Just any cat.
  • Plants (or anything garden related for that matter).
  • Coffee. That's drinking it or smelling it, so anything that smells of coffee.
  • Tattoos (and always discussing my next one).
  • True crime documentaries (especially police station interview videos).
  • Buying non-essential things for the house, such as rugs and disco balls.
  • My latest obsession is lava lamps. They're so pretty.

"Hey, I'm CHRIS"

Yes, I’m the loud one. The “talker”. Like Shazia eluded to, once you put a coin in me, I’ll just keep talking. It’s 100% the ADHD at work. 

Shazia will have a nice chat with someone whereas I’ll be best mates with them after 10 minutes. I’m just genuinely interested in people though, which is probably why they feel so comfortable around me. 

MY CLICKY LIST

Shazia and I have very little in common. We really couldn’t be more different.

  • Of course our cats, but also dogs too. I genuinely love dogs.
  • Dungeons and Dragons. I'm completely addicted to it.
  • Films. I'm big movie buff, so movie night is one of my highlights.
  • Building Lego. It's my (non-cost effective) way of relaxing and unwinding.
  • Food or to be specific good food. If I'm going to eat, I'd rather eat well.
  • Travelling, whether its visiting somewhere far away or a good old road trip.
  • Just anything geeky to be honest.

STEP TWO:
LOVE THE PHOTOGRAPHS

YOU GOTTA LOVE THE PHOTOS

Doesn’t matter how canny someone is. If you don’t like their photographs, it’s all for nothing. Problem is, there are so many photographers out there and it can be very overwhelming. 

So how do you choose?

Well, our advice would be to look past all the buzzwords like ‘editorial’ and ‘documentary’ and simply look at how someone captures a wedding day to see if you like that style.

LOVE THE EXPERIENCE

Imagine standing there on your wedding day. It’s the afternoon. You’re busy mingling with your friends and family, chatting away and you briefly think about the time you’ve just spent having your photographs taken.   • Once we've won your guests over with our organisation and efficiency, from that point on, they just accept us as part of your day.
  • They're like "Yeah, you made that easy. Thanks. You guys just crack on."
  • If your guests are relaxed around us, your photographs will in turn look and feel more natural and genuine.
  • It's incredible how much a simple thing impacts not just your photographs but the wedding day itself.
