SOME PREVIOUS 'QUICKIES'

NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE & NORTHUMBERLAND

We’ve had some amazing experiences with our previous couples who wanted an intimate, relaxed day. Not just that, but they wanted some great photographs too. Take a look at some of our previous Quickies below for inspiration.

QUICKIE FAQS

Basically, it's a package specifically designed for registry office / town hall weddings ceremonies, but it doesn't just cover the ceremony itself.

As well as your wedding ceremony, our Quickie package covers some time pre-ceremony to capture guest arrival, as well as some time post-ceremony for any family photographs that you want.

After that, you'll head off for a 60-90 minute couple portrait session with your photographer.

Based on what we've been told previously, this is the time that our couples enjoy the most. Just the two of you having fun and at the same time, capturing some really cool photographs.

It's like it's own mini experience within your wedding day and our couples love every minute of it.

You also have the option of doing your couple portrait session before the ceremony. See below for further details.

It came from Shazia, who really enjoyed doing a smaller, city centre wedding.

Shazia was fortunate enough to photograph a wedding back in 2022 that followed the flow of what the Quickie package does.

Of course there was no Quickie package back then, but from that experience came the Quickie package.

It was a Civic Centre wedding in Newcastle. Yes, they had guests attending but once the family portraits were done at the Civic Centre, Shazia had a wander around town with the couple and captured some great photographs.

Shazia really enjoyed her experience with the couple and how it allowed her to be super creative with the photographs.

She loved that she had that creative freedom all without having a wedding co-ordinator tapping their watch and putting pressure on her to get back for a certain time.

Most importantly for us, the couple said they really enjoyed themselves.

That got us thinking.

Most couples who book with us tell us they are not 100% comfortable in front of camera, as did this particular bride and groom.

So, if they enjoyed their experience so much, even though they weren't usually fans of being photographed, maybe this was something that could work?

So we packaged it up and made it available to others and you what? Other couples have said the exact same thing.

Every couple who have booked a Quickie have all had an amazing time.

Not just "Yeah, that was fun."

We're talking "That was amazing! Like, the best part of our day!"

There must be something to it, so that's why we decided to turn the experience into a package.

It's gone down a treat.

Yes, of course they're included.

A standard Quickie package starts coverage 15 minutes before the ceremony at the registry office. This is to capture you and any guests arriving.

From that moment on, your guests form part of the natural candid coverage. We'll photograph them naturally just as we would at any other wedding.

After the ceremony is over, we'll even capture some group photographs of you all together, because we know those are important.

We don't want to be stood there all afternoon doing group shots so not lots. That's not enjoyable for anyone and it takes away from the whole point of the Quickie package.

We do want to make sure that you've got the family shots that you want and then we can head off for your couple portraits.

You'll be absolutely fine.

The biggest issue for most people getting married who don't like having their photographs taken is the fact that guests are nearby.

Trust me, when you're with us and no one else is around, you'll be absolutely fine.

We're not big fans of being in front of camera ourselves, which is why we're so good with couples who feel the same way. We don't make you do anything "posey" as that's not what we'd want ourselves.

Instead we want to capture something relaxed, cool, fun and creative.

Most importantly, we want to make sure that while we're being creative, you are both comfortable in whatever you're doing.

If you have any concerns or hesitations in this regard, always mention it to us beforehand. We can talk you through how our approach will help you and you can even make a plan for your couple portraits that involves having some fun.

Yes and no.

Yes in the sense that the Quickie package itself is always the same price.

No in the sense that the package was originally designed for weddings at Newcastle Civic Centre and was priced as such.

So, if you're getting married at another registry office such as Durham, Alnwick, Gateshead, Hexham or North Shields, we just add some extra money on to cover our additional travel outside of Newcastle Upon Tyne.

No, the Quickie package isn't suitable for that.

Our Quickie packages follow a very specific structure and have been designed and priced accordingly.

We've explained more about this in this FAQs.

No, that's not what this package is for... and we'll explain why.

The Quickie package is very specific about its structure and what it covers. Ceremony, some group shots and a 60-90 minute couple portrait session.

When you have a micro wedding or twilight wedding, while we may be photographing for the same amount of overall time as the Quickie package, the nature of what we capture in that time is different.

The 90 minutes couple portrait session included in the Quickie will be shorter, simply because you won't want to leave your guests alone for 90 minutes.

That means instead of couple portraits, we'd be capturing candid images of guests.

We capture far more photographs when shooting candids than we do when capturing couple portraits. So, there will be a lot more photographs to edit afterwards.

More photographs to edit takes more time. More time equals more money. You get the idea.

The Quickie package is priced as such based on the fact that there's less photographs captured overall compared to normal.

Probably not but maybe, it depends.

Our Quickie package is VERY specific in terms of what it covers. A registry office ceremony, small list of group shots and then off for couple portraits. That's it.

It's basically an elopement style package with an accommodation for some guest photos.

When you get married at the registry office, they basically kick you out after the ceremony is over. You have to go somewhere else and can't hang around.

We essentially hijack some time with you in between you leaving the civic centre and arriving at your next port of call.

If you've booked another venue, say As You Like It or Blackfriars, the likelihood is that you won't be leaving there immediately after the ceremony.

If you've got guests there and you're having a meal at the same venue, it's more of a micro wedding than an elopement. That's not what the Quickie package is for.

If you're happy seeing each other before the ceremony then yes, absolutely!

We can even co-ordinate a private reveal where you see each other for the first time. This is especially nice if you want to have that moment for yourselves, without any guests watching.

Whether your reaction is one of laughter or tears (happy tears also count), you don't have to worry about ugly crying in front of your guests.

We've done this before and many couples have said it's nice because it's takes the pressure off that moment.

Another benefit of doing your couple portrait session before the ceremony is that you don't need to leave your guests after the ceremony finishes.

Pre-ceremony couple portraits is also a really good idea if you're getting married in the winter months. Since it goes dark at 4pm, we can do your couple portraits while the light is better.

There's endless possibilities and we're here to chat through ideas with you.

We can do anything you can think of!

Fancy some ten pin bowling? Crazy golf? How about grabbing a coffee? or a slice of pizza and a shake?

The only restriction on what we can do together is the limits of our collective imaginations.

We want to capture you guys having a good time. The more adventurous you feel, the more fun we can have.

The earlier we can throw ideas around, the easier it is for you guys to plan your day with your couple portrait session in mind.

That's why town is great. It gives us a plan B.

If it rains, it ultimately comes down to whether you're happy heading outside for photographs or not. We don't expect you to head out if it's a storm but if it's a bit of drizzle, you might still be happy to.

The great thing about being in Newcastle city centre is that there are lots of places to go where we're sheltered from the weather. An instant plan B, so to speak.

Yes and no.

The couple portrait session is designed to be exactly that. Couple portraits. It's your chance to relax, have some time together and our chance to capture something really fun and cool for you both.

It's not always the case but we've found that sometimes when other people come along, it can take away from that experience if they're causing delays or a distraction.

This is especially the case with young children. In the loveliest way possible, they just make everything take longer. I mean, if you've got kids we don't have to tell you this.

We want you to have a fantastic experience wandering around having your photographs taken. Again, we're trying to break free of any constraints and that means no distractions.

Dogs are different. They're no bother and more than welcome to come along for the couple portraits. We can deal with breaks to pick up a little dog poop.

There are of course, always situations where you might want someone to come along. You might want someone to carry the bags or hold the umbrella.

Sure, no problem. It's the negative distractions we want to avoid.

Just chat with us about it and we'll discuss whether we think it will work or not.

Yes of course, as long as it's still a Quickie at the core.

What we mean by that is as long as the day follows the structure of the Quickie package, if you want to add on some additional time, say to capture getting ready or something else afterwards, that's okay.

We've had Quickies in the past where the couple have a meal booked afterwards, for example, and would like some photographs of guests mingling before food service.

Or sometimes a couple want to do a little more than just the 60-90 minute couple photoshoot (e.g. more photographs and / or a different location).

No problem. We just figure out how much extra time you need us for and we'll add that on. You just pay the extra.

Happy days!

Typically within 6-9 months of your wedding date, but it depends when you're planning to get married.

With the Quickie package being a smaller package, it's always been intended for relatively last minute bookings.

We also don't want to be booking out dates months ahead for the smaller package, so we judge it on a date by date basis.

For example, if you're getting married in January there's more chance we'll book you in ahead of time compared to a Saturday in the summer.

The best thing to do is get in touch with us and we can advise on the best option.

In this situation, you're effectively changing package.

As part of our booking terms and conditions, we agree that if you book a Quickie in the City package, you're doing so because your wedding will follow that structure. If your wedding plans change and no longer follows the specifics of a Quickie package, we'll need to change your package.

This may result in changing you onto one of our standard photography packages and will likely result in you having to pay an additional cost.

Examples of this could be that you've changed your ceremony venue from the registry office, or that you've changed location from Newcastle city centre to somewhere else.

This would also apply if your plans effectively changed from a Quickie to a "normal" wedding day, even if you just wanted coverage for a few hours.

The Quickie package is very specific in terms of what is covers and the locations it covers. Any deviation from this after booking will likely result in further costs being added to your booking if you wanted to continue with us.
