The details

The happy couple:

Spencer and Leanne

Time of year:

The location:

South Causey Inn (Old Barn), Co. Durham

Leanne and Spencer were our first wedding of 2020 with the newly announced restrictions of 15 guests. They really wanted to get married, so decided they wanted to go ahead and be married regardless.

They’d chosen to get married at the South Causey Inn Old Barn in County Durham. It’s a beautiful setting. After everything they had been through in 2020 to get to the wedding day, all the uncertainty and stress was all worth it in the end, but the one thing they couldn’t account for was the weather.

Simply put, it was lashing it down… all day, which you’ll see in the photographs, but was was amazing was that Leanne and Spencer took it in their stride and were happy to do anything and everything.

We loved that and hopefully you’ll love the resulting images. We know they did.

(Please note, we haven’t post many photographs online of guests mingling and chatting, simply to avoid any potential issues related to social distancing).

Where the wedding name came from:

The name was chosen because of all the rain they had on the wedding day. It wasn’t just a shower, it was all day, heavy and non stop. Take a look…

We began the day with Leanne, her bridesmaids and the mothers who were getting ready at the Causey Bunkhouse.
Weddings are all about the little details and Leanne had chosen some beautiful flowers.
Everything was nice and relaxed. The ladies all had their hair and makeup done and they even had some time just to sit and chat.
The final touches were put in place and Leanne got into her dress. As you can see, she looked simply stunning!
With everyone ready to go, the ladies made their way over to the old barn.
The rain was coming down as Leanne made her way over under the cover of umbrellas.
Spencer was all smiles as he waited patiently at the bottom of the aisle.
All the guests were keeping safe as the watched on. Such a beautiful ceremony.
Leanne and Spencer really had put a lot of effort into their day. They'd thought of every detail, including a desert table for their guests.
The breakfast room look stunning and considering there was only 15 guests, the room didn't look empty at all.
With the rain coming down outside, we made the most of the ceremony room for some lovely images of them both together.
After spending the afternoon mingling, the guests took their seats for the speeches.
Spencer, his best man and Leanne's dad all did a fantastic job of their speeches, drawing a few tears along the way.
Once their meal was over, Leanne and Spencer decided they wanted some more photographs and even though it was a downpour outside, they embraced every moment of it.
As you can see, the images outside in the rain are stunning. They might have gotten a little wet, but those images will last forever.
After everyone was dried off, it was time for some shots at the bar and what better choice than tequila.
Before long it was time for the first dance before guests joined them on the dancelfoor in their socially distanced bubbles.
It was such a lovely, relaxed evening and we had a great time capturing every part of their day.
