13th July 2019

Cockburnspath, Berwickshire

We love it when we have a wedding that is a little bit different and this wedding was completely unique to anything that we’ve ever photographed in the past.

The happy couple were Tom and Rebecca who decided to have their wedding just over the Scottish border in a place called Cockburnspath. The wedding was to take place in Rebecca’s parents’ back garden. An over simplified way of putting it to be fair. Their parents had a lovely, big house with a huge back garden.

When we arrived, the marquee was already assembled and a lovely, simple outdoor ceremony area set up. The meat and veg were all cooking on the fire and the drinks sitting in ice buckets waiting for everyone to arrive.

This was an incredible DIY wedding. Here’s how it all unfolded…

Where the wedding name came from:

The name was chosen because of the giant garden gnomes that greeted the guests on arrival.

Chris began the day by photographing the set up outside. They had done a fantastic job with the marquee and the smell coming from the cooking area was fantastic.
Inside Rebecca was being pampered with the girls.
Before heading out to the ceremony, Rebecca enjoyed a quick drink inside to calm the nerves.
What an incredible setting. Rebecca and Tom surrounding by their family and friends in such a fantastic place.
The rain started to make an appearance during the ceremony, so we hurried through a confetti tunnel and a big group photograph so everyone could get under cover.
Guests relaxed into the afternoon well spending time catching up over drinks and food platters.
The wedding breakfast food was cooking away so we grabbed our newlyweds and headed out for some couple photographs.
Taking five minutes for themselves, Rebecca and Tom enjoyed some time alone before their doggies arrived for some photos.
Back inside, guests were seated and ready for the arrival of the bride and groom.
After the mean and speeches were over, Tom changed out of his military outfit into his evening suit and we headed out for some more photographs of Rebecca and Tom together.
They were so relaxed and comfortable in front of camera.
Back in the marquee guests were gearing up for the evening do to start.
First there was the cutting of the cake followed swiftly by the first dance.
Finally the Ceilidh band kicked in and guests joined the newlyweds on the dancefloor to get the party started.
