In what turned out to be our last wedding before the 2020 lockdown, Michael and Elizabeth’s wedding day ended up being far different than what they’d originally planned, but it also turned out to be just perfect the way it was.

They chose to have their wedding down on the Quayside in Newcastle. Their original plan was to have their ceremony at the Malmaison, followed by their wedding breakfast at Las Iguanas and then their evening reception over at the Baltic. In the end, the Baltic part of the day didn’t happen, but what did happen was a lovely, laid back, intimate wedding day with their closest family and friends.

Michael and Elizabeth loved our style. They were both very laid back and we clicked with them really well. They were very much a “do whatever you think is best” kind of couple, which suited us perfectly.

Where the wedding name came from:

The name was chosen because of the lovely stroll around the quayside area we managed before and after the wedding breakfast.

We began this bright, sunny March day at the Malmaison.
Chris headed to see Michael who was getting ready on his own, before his family joined him for a glass of whiskey.
A few doors away, Elizabeth was getting ready with her mum.
Elizabeth was rocking some awesome shoes, including a sensational pair of Irregular Choice.
There's nothing more awesome than kitty socks.
Elizabeth looked stunning in her dress. Everything was ready as guests gathered downstairs.
Pictures don't lie and you can see the smile on Michael's face as Elizabeth made her way down the aisle.
After the ceremony, guests made their way out onto the Quayside for a few photographs.
It might have been a tad windy, but we just about managed to get all the confetti blowing as it should.
After photographs it was back inside for some drinks.
With the plans for the day opening up a little, it gave us a little more time to head out for some couple portraits.
After heading across the Millennium bridge, we start off in front of The Baltic (which should have been their evening venue).
A stroll back across the river and along the quayside let us under the Tyne Bridge.
Newcastle is such a cool city to photograph in. So many amazing spots and textures.
After getting our steps in, we headed back to Las Iguanas where all the guests were ready for our newlyweds to arrive.
Before food was served it was time for speeches.
The relaxed nature of the day lent itself to some truly personal speeches and some laughs to boot.
Back at the Malmaison, guests were unravelling out of their food comas and taking the time to sit and chat.
This really was a relaxed evening with only a handful of guests making it back to the Mal.
There was just enough time to cut the cake and for Michael and Elizabeth to have their first dance together as husband and wife.
