When is the best time to book a photographer?

HEY LOVEBIRDS!

After the venue and (in our opinion) the food, photography is one of the more important, high ticket value purchases of any wedding.

It’s a good idea to book your wedding photographer as early as possible to ensure availability and avoid disappointment. Ideally, you should start looking for a wedding photographer once you have your venue booked. This gives you plenty of time to research potential photographers, view their portfolios and schedule consultations to discuss your needs and preferences.

If you have a specific photographer in mind or are planning a wedding during peak season (usually summer and early autumn), you may want to enquire before you have a date set in stone so you can make sure that they are free to shoot your wedding. Some photographers may be booked a year or more in advance, so it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

When choosing a wedding photographer, it’s important to find someone whose style and approach match your vision for your wedding day. Take the time to review their work and ask to see full wedding galleries to get a sense of their style and consistency. We would definitely recommend meeting them, either in person or on video chat to get to know them a little bit and ask them any questions you have. Rememeber, you’ll spend more of your wedding day with your photographer than anyone else so it’s important that you get on with them.

It’s also important to keep in mind that wedding photographers often have a limited number of available dates, especially during weekends and popular wedding months, so booking early can help you get the date you want.

Once you have found the right photographer, be sure to sign a contract and pay a deposit to secure your date. This not only ensures that you have a photographer reserved for your wedding day but it also provides you with the peace of mind that comes with knowing that all of the important details are taken care of.
